DUTIES: Assist and support patients with activities of daily living (physical care) and selfcare. Provide elementary nursing care in accordance with the scope of practice. Practice nursing and health care in accordance with the laws and regulations relevant to nursing and health care. Provide health education to patients, family and community to promote health. Maintain constructive working relationships with nursing and other stakeholders. Utilize material and physical resources efficiently and effectively. Work as part of multi-disciplinary team to ensure good nursing care. Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development. Personnel Suitability Checks (PSC): It is a legislative requirement that all newly appointed 82 staff members are subjected to Personnel Suitability Checks (PSC) – verification), upon appointment within the Department. This verification process entails reference checks, identity verification, qualifications verification, criminal records checks as well as a credit/ financial stability checks. All shortlisted candidates for SMS posts will be subjected to a technical exercise that intends to test relevant technical elements of the job, the logistics of which will be communicated by the department. Following the interview and technical exercise, the selection panel will recommend candidates to attend a generic competency assessment (in compliance with the DPSA Directive on the implementation of competency based assessments). The competency assessment will be testing generic managerial competencies using the mandated DPSA SMS competency assessment tool. The successful candidate will be required to enter into an employment contract and sign an annual performance agreement. All shortlisted candidates will be subjected to personnel suitability checks and the successful candidate will have to undergo full security vetting. All applicants are required to declare any conflict or perceived conflict of interest. All applicants are required to disclose membership of Boards and directorships that they may be associated with. The successful candidate will have to annually disclose her or his financial interests. Identified candidates will be subjected to a government specific generic competency assessment as well as a technical practical exercise as part of the selection process. It will be required of the successful candidate to undergo an appropriate security clearance. An indication in this regard will facilitate the processing of applications.
