Sappi Ngodwana place a suitably qualified Coal Yard Operator to safely and efficiently operate the equipment under his/her control and ensure optimum production output with minimum downtime. Ensures offloading of coal within the required time frame as well as the continuous supply of reclaimed coal to the PF, LP Boiler and Gas Producer

Minimum Requirements…

• Matric (Math’s & Physical Science);
• N3 Pulp and Paper will be advantageous
• 1 – 3 Years Manufacturing experience

Job Specification…

  • • Ensure the plant is running according to required rate and quality specifications
  • • Check auxiliary equipment once per shift
  • • Inform PF Boiler status of coal pile at the beginning of each shift
  • • Responsible for the stock pile of coal onto different coal piles
  • • Check for spontaneous combustion and report to the Shift Superintendent if spotted
  • • Co-ordinate removal of rejects
  • • Responsible for housekeeping of out feed, cross feed, transfer tower, reclaim conveyors, stacker, Reclaimer, Dagmar screen tower.
  • • Perform quality control checks of coal stacked onto different coal piles and report abnormalities to Shift Superintendent
  • • Ensure that gas coal rejects are reclaimed once per shift
  • • Perform cleaning of all spills when required
  • • Assist with the off-loading of coal trucks at tippler when Reclaimer not in use
  • • Move stacker from one stock pile to another and set to correct offloading level
  • • Adjust stacker to correct level for stacking process
  • • Responsible for the reporting of any defects / deviations from the normal running of the plant
  • • Identify abnormal / emergency plant conditions and take corrective action according to standards (BOP)
  • • Isolate plant as required
  • • Perform house keeping with the team – focus on areas of responsibility
