The De Beers Group of Companies has an opportunity for a motivated individual to join the Environmental and Permitting department at the Gahcho Kué Mine Site based in the Northwest Territories. Reporting to the Environment Permitting Superintendent and working a two (2) weeks in / two (2) weeks out rotation at the Gahcho Kué mine site, this position will be instrumental in the collection, monitoring, analysis and reporting of environmental data at the Gahcho Kué mine site. The position is also critical to the communication of departmental objectives and initiatives to site personnel. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to troubleshoot problems and be capable of working independently and as part of the team. The ideal candidate is one who is committed to safe work practices and strives for zero harm.
What this Role Entails:
- Collection, monitoring, entry and analysis of required data as per established schedules;
- Leading field programs ensuring efficiencies in schedule are identified and capitalized upon;
- Field work in a remote environment, which may include heavy lifting;
- Development of first-stage regulatory reporting documents;
- Maintaining appropriate records and databases;
- Keeping appropriate notes and drafting memos, letters and faxes as required; and
- Assisting in the coordination of waste management and spill prevention programs.
What you Need for this Role:
- Post-secondary education in environmental sciences;
- Minimum two (2) years of related experience;
- Experience with environmental sampling, monitoring and reporting;
- Solid computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office;
- Experience operating and maintaining equipment (snowmobiles, boats and quads); and
- Experience in the mine industry with operations at a remote site.
