The Role:
• That all components manufacture by the section, meets the required specifications
• Ensure optimum operation conditions by monitoring and co-ordinate effective machining of CNC machines through the various programs and do adjustments as and when instructed by the programs and the Foreman.
• High level maintenance, installation and testing of sophisticated equipment & machinery
• Performance of pro-active inspection and fault finding
• Perform detail diagnostic work and quality control on work pieces
• Be able to handle operational problems and do trouble shooting
• Training of personnel regarding the use of CNC machines
• Assist artisans with FANUC programming on CNC machines
• Do quality control checks on work pieces with Global 3D machine
• Participation in Omega/BBC programs including SHEQ
• Ad hoc tasks, standby
• Assist Programmer with programming and placing of cutting tools on various machines

Requirements:

• Grade 12/N3 essential • N2 with Fitter and Turner trade certificate essential • 3+ years’ relevant experience as Fitter and Turner essential • Valid South African driver’s license essential • Experience in CAD/CAM programming Advantageous • Experience in FANUC CNC control systems Advantageous
Remuneration
• The initial salary will be determined in accordance with Kumba Iron Ore Ltd. regulations
• This position is an Anglo Band J4

CONSTRUCTION SPECIALIST (FIXED TERM CONTRACT) , COAL SOUTH AFRICA, CENTRAL SERVICES, MPUMALANGA
OPEN TO INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL
The role:
 Managerial and Direct Responsibility to maintain safe work practices and a safe working environment by ensuring that legal
requirements and group working standards and policies related to engineering are implemented and followed on the
Operations and Projects
 Managerial Authority to optimise planned maintenance schedules of machinery and equipment ensuring that equipment is
effectively maintained
 Management of Maintenance Contracts and OEM’s
 Facilitate root cause problem solving as well as plan and implement inspections and major equipment outages
 Direct Responsibility to research and implement best practice systems with respect to cost, maintenance, safety and people
management
 Build new systems as required and participate in Maintenance Improvement Group Initiatives
 Encourage innovation in team
 Managerial and Advisory Authority to Effective People management, ensuring that roles are well defined and clarified and
that competencies and learning paths are developed to human capacity and capability
 Evaluate requirements of departmental staff, ensure that individuals are provided with the correct development opportunities,
evaluate training courses as well as oversee the development of training material
 Assist with the recruitment and selection of new employees and graduates ensuring the right people for the vacancies
 Managerial Authority in Financial Budgeting & Management
 Ensure that costs allocated for engineering tasks within Anglo Coal SA are controlled within the prescribed budget and compares
with internationally accepted benchmarks
 Ensure cost saving
 Approve budgetary expenditures within authorisation limits
 Control capital expenditure for improvement programmes
 Direct Responsibility to participate in ad hoc projects providing input into drafting of scope for new projects
 Implement capital projects such as upgrades, extensions or refurbishments and safety improvement plans
Requirements:
 Diploma / Degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering essential
 Relevant Trade Test in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering essential
 Registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa
 Member of the South African Engineering Association
 AA Plc Safety Course : A3
 Valid South African Driver’s License essential
 5+ years’ experience as a Foreman in the Mining Industry essential
 Computer literacy in MS Office
 Must have a Certificate of Fitness or be in a position to obtain one
 Good written and verbal communication skills in English
 GCC Engineering ticket will be preferential
Knowledge and Skills:
 Knowledge of Relevant Legislation including The Mine Health and Safety Act, Minerals and Energy Act, Basic Conditions of
Employment and Environmental Legislation
 Sound knowledge of Anglo Coal South Africa Engineering codes of practices, policies and procedures.
 In depth knowledge of the Anglo Coal South Africa safety systems and standards.
 An in depth knowledge of technical engineering aspects such as outside equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and South Africa
Bureau of Standards (SABS)
 A good working knowledge and understanding of machinery and equipment used in the Mining Industry and in particular coal
processing plants
 Aware of best practices and new technologies relating to Engineering Principles and Processes
 Knowledge of change management and resource management
 Ensure that all legal requirements, codes of practices, group standards and policies are understood and adhered and ensure
changes to legal requirements are communicated
 Monitoring of activities in accordance with the implementation programme by managing the quality of work performed on the project
as well as the project progress and the reporting thereof
 Effective implementation of cost control
 Experience with implementation of projects in operating plants
 Plant construction experience is preferential
