Job description
We currently have an opportunity available at our Stellenbosch office for a Database Administrator – SQL.
Purpose of the role
- To commission and ensure the efficient running / operation of the database management systems within Capitec Bank.
- Investigate, implement, maintain and support database management systems
- Investigation, implementation of tasks and projects
Qualifications
Min:
- Grade 12
Ideal:
- A relevant tertiary qualification (degree / diploma)
- Microsoft Database Certification
- Microsoft Operating System Certification
Experience
Min:
- 3+ years’ experience in database administration and design
- o 2+ years’ experience in performance monitoring/analysis and capacity planning
Ideal:
- 3+ years’ experience Microsoft SQL Server
- 3+ years’ experience in performance monitoring/analysis and capacity planning
- 1+ years’ experience in Operating System Administration
Knowledge and Skills
• Min:
- Detailed knowledge of:
- SQL Server design and administration
- SQL Server performance and capacity analysis
- T-SQL Programming and optimization
A sound understanding of:
- IT systems development processes (SDLC lifecycle)
- Business continuity planning
- IT Operations
- SQL Server Internals
- Storage/SAN architecture
- Automation and scripting
- Data warehousing
• Ideal:
- A sound understanding of:
- Networking fundamentals
- X86 Hardware architecture
- Knowledge of:
- Big data
- Cloud platforms
- NoSQL technologies (e.g. MongoDB)
Additional requirements
- Own reliable transport and valid driver’s license
- Clear credit record
