Deals Buyer

takealot a leading South African online retailer, is looking for a highly talented Deals Buyer to join our team in Cape Town.

The position reports to the Promotions Division Manager.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Deliver against key financial and service level performance indicators: Turnover, margin, stock cover, selection
• Negotiate deal pricing and/or rebates on deals
• Build the deals pipeline in correct product mix (assortment and depth)
• Inventory management
• Maintain relationships with existing suppliers whilst seeking out new ones
• Continuously assess industry and market trends locally and internationally
• Plan and execute joint marketing activities with suppliers and vendors
• Work closely with Division Managers & Buyers to ensure strategic alignment
• Work closely with Customer Service to resolve deal related queries

Attributes required:

• Ability to interpret data to make informed decisions
• Strong negotiator with a merchant mind set
• Strong prioritization, planning skills
• Smart creative, willingness to innovate / take calculated risks
• Passionate about retail

Qualifications:

• 5 years related industry experience in Buying or Business Development
• Proven track record of negotiations
• Existing industry networks advantageous
• Commercial Degree
• Competence in Excel
