WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
If you aspire to have an exciting career specialising in quantitative and capital risk management, joining this tailor-made graduate programme will help you achieve your dreams by opening up opportunities for you. You will have the chance to be rotated across several business areas for a period of up to two years, being extensively exposed to a broad range of quantitative risk management techniques, such as model development, model validation, scorecard calibration and stress testing.
Even though you will join the various business units at an entry-level position, you will be treated as an indispensable member of the team. Your work will include the development and maintenance of models that form an integral part of our business processes, as the advanced risk measures produced by these models inform the bank’s decision making and strategy.
We pride ourselves on developing global business leaders with an entrenched social awareness and a vested interest in their surrounding communities, while being part of a bank that seeks to use financial expertise to do good.
#BeTheDifference: Corporate Social Responsibility
To date the Nedbank Quants Graduate Programme (along with the Nedbank CA Training Programme) has raised just over R900 000 for various community initiatives, the latest being Matla Combined School, a co-ed school which caters for grade R all the way through to 12, and currently facilitates around 1 200 pupils. The quant graduates planted and established a sustainable vegetable garden to complement the school’s feeding programme.
Corporate Social Responsibility is a great opportunity for us as a Programme to leverage on our resources and #BeTheDifference in the lives of those in our communities and country.

QEP EXPERIENCES
“I gained so many relationships that I was able to leverage. I also learnt what it means to be a quant and if that job was for me. I also enjoyed the hands on help from the graduates and their compassion and feedback.”
MAXINE KHUMALO, GRADUATE QUANTITATIVE ANALYST
“QEP was an incredible opportunity to experience the Nedbank corporate culture which aligned well with my own values and skill sets. Working on interesting and challenging real world banking problems gave me first-hand experience of the Quants role in the bank all whilst engaging meaningfully with trainees and managers, building relationships and improving my skills. Attending the QEP was an incredible experience which allowed me to gain a unique insight into Nedbank, defining my career path.”
ADAM BRESLER, GRADUATE QUANTITATIVE ANALYST
“My favourite part about QEP was the incredible experience I gained in such a short space of time. When I attended QEP, I had just finished my third year of studying and I was confused about what to do next. After a few days of collaborating with other students and learning from senior quants in the bank, I left the programme with invaluable networking skills and a broader knowledge on the quant world. I knew then that the quant industry was the best way to utilise and expand my skill set. I am so grateful to everyone who inspired me during the programme and I hope that we can inspire you too! .”
JENNA DUFFY, GRADUATE QUANTITATIVE ANALYST
What our graduates have to say:
“I’ll forever be grateful to the Quants Graduate Programme and its management for being able to see my eagerness and potential. Since joining this programme, the growth in my soft and technical skills has been very humbling. To mention a few highlights from my time at Nedbank, I have had the pleasure of being an MC at two formal Nedbank events, and I have been selected as one of two marketing heads for the Quants Graduate Programme. My time here at Nedbank has been nothing short of amazing.”
SIMPHIWE SITHOMO, GRADUATE QUANTITATIVE ANALYST
“The Nedbank Quants Graduate Programme is unique. We go through a rotation-based programme where each graduate undergoes a tailormade experience based on their career goals and aspirations. I have learnt that there is no limit to what we can achieve if we set our minds to it. Above all, one of the main things that I enjoy about working for Nedbank is its culture. People take your ideas seriously and you work on real projects. Everything that you do is meaningful and adds value to the business.”
KIM LUCAS, GRADUATE QUANTITATIVE ANALYST
The Quants Graduate Programme has provided me the opportunity to see many different aspects of Nedbank in the form of different teams and different business units. I wasn’t sure what to expect working for a big corporate such as Nedbank but the Graduate Programme has definitely met any expectations I had.
JOSIE CRONJE, GRADUATE QUANTITATIVE ANALYST
